The Lighthouse Retreat – Little Corn Island

Welcome to The Lighthouse Retreat. By making a reservation through our official website or authorized booking partners, you acknowledge and agree to the following reservation policies, terms, and operational guidelines.

1. Booking & Payment Terms

  • Individual Bookings (FIT): Full payment (100%) is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.

  • Currency, Taxes & Processing: All rates are listed in USD and exclude 15% Nicaraguan VAT. A standard 6% card processing fee applies to all online transactions and 15% fee for cash-back.

  • Island Cash Notice: There are no ATMs or banking facilities on Little Corn Island. Please plan ahead and bring sufficient cash for local incidentals, gratuities, and island purchases prior to arriving.

2. Cancellations, Modifications & Transfers

  • Strict Non-Refundable Policy: All payments and reservations are strictly non-refundable.

  • One-Time Reservation Transfer: Guests may request to transfer their reservation dates one time, provided written notice is sent to book@thelighthouselci.com at least 90 days prior to your scheduled check-in date. Transferred bookings must be used within 12 months of the original reservation and are subject to room availability and seasonal rate adjustments.

  • Travel Disruptions & Island Transport: The Lighthouse Retreat is not responsible for delayed flights, missed connections, or transport interruptions. 

  • Travel Insurance Mandate: Because of our remote Caribbean location and strict non-refundable policy, we strongly urge all guests and group facilitators to purchase comprehensive travel insurance including Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) and medical coverage.

3. Group & Retreat Buyouts (B2B Contracts)

  • 3-Step Payment Milestones & Auto-Charge Agreement: Private group buyouts and retreat packages are secured under a structured payment schedule. By signing your agreement, you authorize The Lighthouse Retreat to automatically charge the credit card on file on each due date:

    • 30% Deposit: Due at the time of booking to lock out property dates (non-refundable).

    • 20% Progress Payment: Due 60 days after signing your agreement.

    • 50% Final Balance: Due 90 days prior to your retreat check-in date.

  • Date Transfer Flexibility: If a host needs to reschedule, 100% of monies paid are transferable toward a new retreat date within 6 months of the original check-in date (subject to owner approval, venue availability, seasonal rate adjustments, and notice timelines outlined in your contract).

  • Strict Baseline & Balance Policy: All payments are strictly non-refundable. If a retreat is canceled and not rescheduled within the 6-month transfer window, all funds paid remain strictly forfeited. Any remaining unpaid balance according to the payment schedule becomes immediately due and will be automatically charged to the card on file.

  • Host Autonomy & Responsibility: Retreat leaders and travel advisors are solely responsible for marketing their event, managing guest rosters, collecting participant fees, and setting their own attendee refund policies.

4. Check-In, Check-Out & Operations

  • Check-In Window: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Mandatory online check-in and Credit Card authorization form must be completed prior to arrival to ensure smooth dockside greetings and luggage assistance.https://www.thelighthouselci.com/check-in-little-corn-island

  • Strict Check-Out Time: Check-out is strictly at 10:00 AM.

  • Late Check-Out Policy: Late check-out (up to 12:00 PM) is available for $50 USD + 15% VAT, subject to prior approval and availability. Stays extending beyond 12:00 PM will automatically be charged a full additional night rate plus tax.

  • Operational Notice: To maintain staff schedules and align with fixed island panga boat transport, check-out times are strictly enforced with no exceptions.

5. Guest Guidelines & Sanctuary Rules

  • Adults-Only Sanctuary: The Lighthouse Retreat is an adults-only space (18+). Children and pets are not permitted.

  • Eco-Living & Utilities: As an off-grid jungle sanctuary, electricity operates on a scheduled daily cycle from 1:00 PM to 6:00 AM (power is off daily from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM). Please bring reusable water bottles and eco-friendly toiletries.

  • Outside Visitors & Food: Outside food and alcohol are strictly prohibited anywhere on property. Non-registered visitors are not permitted in cabañas unless pre-approved by management and registered with valid photo ID.

  • Property Access: The retreat is situated on a peaceful hilltop accessible via a scenic 10–15 minute walk from the village dock.

6. LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

By ticking the box below, signing this document, or finalizing a booking, you (the "Guest") acknowledge and agree to the following legally binding terms regarding your stay at The Lighthouse Retreat.

 

1. Voluntary Participation & Assumption of Risk

The Guest acknowledges that staying at a remote, off-grid island sanctuary and participating in retreat activities involves inherent physical risks. These include, but are not limited to, physical activity on the rooftop yoga deck, spa/massage treatments, island tours, ocean swimming, and private boat excursions. The Guest voluntarily assumes all risks of personal injury, illness, food allergies, property damage, or death occurring during their stay, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

 

2. Remote Location & Medical Limitation Acknowledgment

The Guest understands that The Lighthouse Retreat is located on a remote hill on Little Corn Island, accessible via a 10–15 minute walk from the village dock, and that there are no advanced medical facilities or standard emergency services on the island. In the event of a medical emergency, evacuation to the mainland may be required and can be delayed by weather, sea conditions, or transport schedules. The Guest agrees that they are physically fit to participate in activities and takes full financial and physical responsibility for any medical treatment or evacuation required.

 

3. Release of Liability & Covenant Not to Sue

The Guest hereby releases, waives, and forever discharges The Lighthouse Retreats LLC (a US-registered business), its owners, directors, employees, instructors, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of any loss, damage, personal injury, illness, death, or theft of personal belongings sustained during the stay or transport to/from the property. The Guest agrees not to bring any lawsuit or legal claim against the entity or its owners in any US, Canadian, Nicaraguan, or international court. 

 

4. Mandatory Travel Insurance & Non-Refundable Nature

The Guest acknowledges that all individual and group buyout bookings are strictly non-refundable. The Guest is solely responsible for purchasing their own comprehensive travel medical and trip cancellation insurance to cover transport delays, missed panga boats, weather disruptions, or personal emergency cancellations.

 

5. Governing Law

This Agreement and any disputes arising from the Guest's stay shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
